Major gateways to Matsuyama

There are many ways to get to Matsuyama in the Shikoku region. It is actually a very quick trip from any of the other cities like Hiroshima and Kyoto, and only a 1.5-hour plane ride from Tokyo. Matsuyama is a compact city with easy access to the city center and other main sightseeing spots from any of the gateways, so you can be assured of having a fruitful and enjoyable time during your travels.


Matsuyama Airport

松山空港Matsuyama Airport is a gateway to the skies that receives flights form Haneda, Narita, Itami, Kansai, Chubu, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Okinawa Airports. The airport has restaurants and cafes including those offering local cuisines of Ehime Prefecture and Matsuyama City. There are also many souvenir shops, so be sure to stop by them when traveling through.

Matsuyama Kankō-kō Port

松山観光港If you are traveling by ferry from Hiroshima, Kure, or Kokura, you will arrive at the Matsuyama Kankō-kō Port in Takahama-machi. The port has many restaurants and souvenir shops, as well as a section that offers many sightseeing posters and pamphlets. You are welcome to use them to help plan your trip.

JR Matsuyama Station

Matsuyama station is on the Yosan Line. The station’s retro ambiance, complete with a wooden entrance gate and gas lamps, will mark a lighthearted start to your travels in this charming city. Right outside this station is another station for streetcars that offer easy access to places like the city center and Dōgo.
