Dōgo Onsen Honkan

The iconic main structure of Dōgo Onsen, which is said to be the oldest hot spring in Japan with its proud 3,000-year history. The site was awarded three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japon and is also the first public bathhouse in Japan to be designated a National Important Cultural Property. The current building, a three-story wooden structure reconstructed in 1892, is scheduled to fully reopen during July 2024 in advance of the completion of preservation and restoration work by the end of 2024. Visitors can still take a bath in the Tama-no-Yu on the first floor, however, the second floor and above, including the rest area is closed.
