Citrus and mandarin oranges
Index
As one of Japan’s leading producers of citrus, Ehime Prefecture, of which Matsuyama is the capital, is known as the ‘Citrus Kingdom’. The prefecture produces many varieties that can be enjoyed throughout the year including the popular mandarin, iyokan, beni-madonna, and setoka. Nakajima, an island that lies off the coast of Matsuyama, is known for its production of mandarin oranges. Every year on April 14, Ehime Prefecture celebrates ‘Orange Day’ by offering presents of oranges and orange-coloured items.
