    Temple No. 51 of the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage, Ishite-ji has been awarded one star by the Michelin Green Guide Japan. Built in 1318, the Niōmon Gate is a National Treasure, while the main hall, three-storied pagoda and belfry are important national cultural properties. The temple is also associated with Emon Saburō, said to be the first pilgrim. Eateries around the temple sell ‘oyaki’, cakes of griddled mochi, which are a local specialty.
